Total Number of Foreign Companies in India as on 30 June 2021

Total Registered

There were a total number of 4,162 foreign companies registered in India as on 30th June, 2021. Out of which, 3,323 foreign companies had an active status as on that date as per MCA portal.

Newly Registered

During the months from April, 2021 to June, 2021, a total of 22 new foreign companies were registered in India.

Out of which, the state-wise new registrations were as follows —

Maharashtra (5), Haryana (5), Tamil Nadu (4), Delhi (2), Karnataka (2), West Bengal (1), Gujarat (1), Uttar Pradesh (1) and Assam (1).

The economic activity-wise distribution of the said 22 foreign companies at the time of registration was as follows:—

I. Industry

a. Manufacturing - 0.

b. Mining and quarrying - 1.

c. Construction - 2.

II. Services

a. Business services - 11.

b. Community, personal and social services - 2.

c. Trading - 2.

d. Finance - 3.

e. Real estate and renting - 0.

f. Transport, storage and communications - 0.

g. Insurance - 1.

Previous Year

There were a total number of 4,909 foreign companies registered in India as on 30th June, 2020. Out of which, 3,374 foreign companies had an active status as on that date.

When we compare the figures of June, 2021 vs. June, 2020, we can see that there is a decline in the number of total registered as well as active foreign companies. This is because some of those companies were liquidated, dissolved, defunct, struck-off, amalgamated, merged or converted.
